The Delhi
Government has introduced the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojna smart cards for the
poor. This scheme will facilitate free quality medical treatment for the poor
in designated private hospitals and nursing homes in Delhi.
The
scheme covers cashless treatment of up to Rs 30,000 for a family of five
persons on a premium of just Rs 30 per annum. It also entails a transport
allowance of up to Rs. 100 for commutes from residence to hospital. This
allowance is capped at Rs. 1000 per annum.
As
reported by The Economic Times, Chief Minister Ms. Sheila Dikshit said, "All
ration cardholders in the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category and Antotadaya
Yojna scheme will be entitled to get these smart cards. A toll-free helpline to
facilitate instant medical treatment is also being launched for the needy." "This treatment is in addition to facilities
being provided in the government hospitals. The beneficiaries are also being
provided with a list of designated hospitals and nursing homes," the chief
minister added.
The designated
toll-free number is 1800-11-3300.
