General insurance industry posts robust figures

| The general insurance industry posted strong growth numbers with a major portion contributed by the private players. The industry grew at 12 per cent till February 2007-08 where the 13 general insurance companies collected a premium of Rs. 25,470 crore till February as compared to 24,998 crore collected last fiscal. The private players posted a growth figure of 27.68 per cent over the last fiscal where as the public players posted a growth figure of 4.04 per cent during the same tenure. |
