United India Insurance Company Limited was incorporated as a Company on 18th February 1938. After nationalization, United India has grown by leaps and bounds. It has an 18300 work force, spread across 1340 offices, providing insurance cover to more than 1 crore policy holders.

The company has a variety of insurance products to provide insurance cover from bullock carts to satellites.

United India's strength has been in designing complex covers for large customers such as ONGC Ltd, Mumbai International Airport Ltd. etc.

The insurer has also been in the forefront of taking insurance to the rural masses; the Indian Government's universal health insurance program was implemented by United India. Its Vijaya Raji Janani Kalyan Yojana covers 45 lakh women in the state of Madhya Pradesh. Other flagship programs include the Tsunami Jan Bima Yojana (in 4 states covering 4.59 lakh families), National Livestock Insurance, and many more.
